Job description: Marine and Offshore Vessel Construction Engineer
Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Construction Engineer to supervise the fabrication of a set of supply vessels at contractor yard and ensure that the fabrication strictly adheres to the approved plans, technical specifications, and fabrication standards. The engineer will be responsible for monitoring the contractor's work, verifying that construction activities comply with safety regulations, quality standards, and project specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and supervise the contractor's construction process for supply vessels in the contractor yard, ensuring all fabrication activities are conducted in strict adherence to approved plans and design specifications.
- Regularly review and verify that fabrication processes follow the technical standards and quality requirements outlined in engineering drawings and project documents.
- Conduct site inspections to monitor progress, assess the quality of work and ensure compliance with design and safety standards.
- Work closely with the contractor's team to provide guidance and ensure construction activities meet the necessary regulatory requirements (e.g., SOLAS, ABS, DNV).
- Document any deviations from the plans, fabrication issues, or technical problems, and report them to the project manager.
- Ensure that safety and environmental protocols are consistently followed on the construction site.
- Communicate with the Project Manager and Engineering team to address any fabrication issues that arise during the construction process.
- Assist in resolving technical issues related to the fabrication process and guide contractors on correcting deviations from approved plans.
- Review any changes to the design or fabrication plan in collaboration with the Project Manager or Engineering team, ensuring these changes do not affect overall project integrity.
- Ensure that the fabrication progress is on track according to the project schedule, reporting any delays or issues to the project manager.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, construction reports, and any corrective actions taken.
- Assist on contractors’ meetings related to the scope and planned activities.
- Assist on Class inspection, equipment FAT and commissioning.
Profile:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Merchant Marine School or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in supervising or managing the fabrication of marine vessels, particularly offshore vessels or similar marine structures.
- Strong knowledge of marine fabrication standards, construction processes, and regulatory codes (e.g., ABS, DNV, SOLAS).
- Familiarity with engineering drawings, technical specifications, and construction plans.
- Proven monitoring and enforcing compliance with construction standards and safety protocols.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively work with contractors and the project team.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality control and compliance.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced.
- Good computer skills and knowledge of AutoCAD
- English is mandatory, and Dutch or French is a plus.

- Local basis contract.
