The MIDIR rig has been selected by Perenco Oil & Gas Gabon in 2017 among Dixstone Drilling fleet to develop the Ganga field, a thin 11m oil ring located in the magnificent forest of Gabon. The field was originally discovered in the 80’s and never fully developed. By having a dedicated skidding rig available permanently on location, POGG and Dixstone have industrialized the development of the field, drilling close to 50 wells in less than 5 years from 7 drilling pads with excellent safety records and rig uptime, lowering in fine the cost per well. More than 60 million barrels have been unlocked from this semi-abandoned field!
Various upgrades have been done to the rig along the years to extend its drilling envelop and improve the delivery of each well, the latest being a new electric TDS to this conventional rig. POGG has extended the rig contract for 2 more years, not only on Ganga field but also to develop other onshore oil and gas fields they have in their portfolio.
This 132-pax accommodation jack-up will be fully reactivated and upgraded to make her soon available for offshore accommodation market.
There is an intense and challenging program ahead.
