Job Overview:

We are looking for an enthusiastic and detail-driven Junior QA/QC Technician to join our team at the construction yard in Holland. In this entry-level role, you will assist in ensuring that all activities involved in the fabrication, assembly, painting, and preparation of offshore structures meet the highest quality standards. This includes conducting and following inspections, performing testing, and supporting the documentation of quality control activities (prefabrication structure, welding installation, Painting, Piping prefabrication and installation…). You will work closely with senior QA/QC personnel to maintain compliance with project specifications and industry standards.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the inspection and quality control of materials, components, and assemblies used in the fabrication of offshore structures and equipment.
  • Perform visual inspections and basic testing to ensure conformity to design specifications and quality standards (e.g., weld inspections, material checks, dimensional control) in our workshop.
  • Conduct inspections of piping systems, components, and materials at various stages of fabrication, assembly, and installation.
  • Verify the adherence to piping design drawings, specifications, and relevant codes (e.g., ASME, ASTM, ISO).
  • Inspect welds, flanges, joints, and valves for proper installation and compliance with welding procedures (WPS), pipe supports, and brackets.
  • Support senior QA/QC technicians in reviewing construction drawings, quality plans, and project specifications to verify adherence to quality standards.
  • Help identify non-conformance issues (NCRs) and discrepancies, ensuring they are documented and addressed promptly.
  • Assist in ensuring all materials and equipment used in fabrication are compliant with applicable standards, including certifications and traceability documentation.
  • Participate in inspections of subcontractors' and vendors' work to ensure their adherence to project quality requirements.
  • Support the preparation and maintenance of quality-related documentation, including ITP review, inspection reports, test certificates, and material tracking.
  • Collaborate with the project team to resolve quality issues, including recommending corrective and preventive actions.
  • Monitor and record welding, coating, and fabrication processes to ensure quality standards are upheld during the construction phase.
  • Support in preparing for external audits or inspections of Suppliers.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of QA/QC processes in the yard by providing feedback on efficiency and quality issues.

 

Qualifications & Skills:

  • A technical diploma or bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction, or a related field (preferred).
  • Previous experience in offshore or shipyard construction or QA/QC roles is a plus (internships or relevant work experience in construction or fabrication environments).
  • Basic knowledge of quality control procedures, fabrication processes, and offshore construction standards.
  • Understanding of industry standards and regulations, including ISO 9001, ASME, AWS, and other quality certifications and codes.
  • understanding of industry codes and standards, including ASME B31.3, ASME B31.1, API 650, ASTM, and ISO
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings, technical specifications, and other project documentation.
  • Familiarity with welding, coating, painting and fabrication techniques and inspections is desirable.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Strong communication skills to work effectively with the project team and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to quickly learn new QA/QC processes, systems, and standards.
  • Strong attention to detail, organisational skills, and the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • A strong commitment to safety and environmental regulations in a construction yard setting.
  • Willingness to work in an industrial and challenging yard environment with occasional outdoor conditions.

 

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods or welding inspections is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with coating and painting inspections such as film thickness tests, adhesion tests or impact resistance tests.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and contribute to a positive working environment.

 

Work Conditions:

  • Work in an onshore construction yard environment with regular exposure to fabrication and assembly areas.
  • Occasional shifts or extended hours may be required to meet project deadlines.
  • Compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations within the construction yard.
