As our new QHSE Coordinator, you will be responsible for further developing and maintaining the QHSE management system at the Dixstone shipyard in Vlissingen. Based primarily in Vlissingen, you will be part of a diverse international team with a strong pioneering spirit, dedicated to making a significant impact on safety & environmental sustainability and beyond.

You will find it a challenge to inspire employees and (sub)contractors to improve our HSE performance at the yard. You will drive our HSE strategy ‘from paper to people’, motivating them in their daily jobs with optimism and perseverance. You have a strong preference for using the carrot, not the stick, to mobilize people for HSE change.

Key responsibilities

  • Setting the HSE standards for the Dixstone Shipyard and associated contractors
  • Assisting in the implementation of a QHSE Management system for the shipyard
  • Implementing site/project-specific procedures to comply with all relevant legislation
  • Training all contractors on the HSE policy and procedures, and promoting a Dixstone safety behavioural program at the yards
  • Monitoring and auditing the safety performance of the organization and (sub)contractors
  • Supporting shipyard management on all questions related to QHSE
  • Assuring internal assessment of hazards and risks
  • Carrying out incident investigations
  • Constantly looking out for HSE improvement areas with passion and energy

 

The ideal candidate for this role will have

  • At least 5 years of HSE experience within an Investor/EPC/offshore or marine work environment
  • HSE education, HVK, or equivalent, such as NEBOSH
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001 series standards
  • A strong pioneering spirit, self-motivation, and the ability to work independently
  • The ability to deal with cultural differences and organizational awareness
  • An HSE background/experience in an international context
  • The ability to interpret Dutch legislative wording and convert this to useful local procedures
  • Qualification as a (lead) auditor (a plus)
  • Excellent people skills, proactivity, and strong communication abilities
  • Good IT skills (SharePoint, Microsoft Office)
  • Preferably Marine/Offshore/Renewable or Power Energy industry experience
  • Fluency in English, both verbally and in writing
